What is Parent Coaching?
What is Parent Coaching?
Parent coaching is support for the parent first. It’s a guided, intentional process that helps you understand your child on a deeper level—how they think, how they learn, and what they need emotionally and developmentally. It gives you a space to unpack your stress, gain clarity, and shift the patterns that keep your home feeling chaotic or overwhelmed.
This isn’t about perfection; it’s about parenting with purpose instead of reacting from frustration or habit. Through coaching, you learn practical tools, healthier routines, and communication that actually works for your child. The goal is simple: stronger connection, calmer days, and a more confident, grounded version of you—so your child can thrive under the care of a parent who is fully present and leading with intention.
Who will benefit?
Black parents and caregivers who desire stronger relationships with their children, clearer routines and boundaries, better communication, and a more purposeful, culturally grounded approach to parenting.
Who is Coach J’Nefer?
Peace and Light. Welcome to Kusudi Village!
My name is Coach J’Nefer (pronounced juh-NEH-fer or simply JEN-uh-fer, like Jennifer), and I’ll be your guide through this journey of growth and transformation. My path has taken me through psychology, child development, African-centered learning, family life, and a lifelong commitment to spiritual growth. For more than 18 years, I’ve worked with children and families while continuing to learn through my own journey as a wife, mother of three, and student of life.
Kusudi Village was created as a space where Black parents can ask honest questions, learn alongside one another, and become more intentional in how they raise their children. My work brings together psychology, child development, African-centered perspectives, and my own experience as a parent.
I’m glad you’re here. My hope is that Kusudi Village gives you the guidance, community, and space to grow into the parent you desire to be.
J’Nefer Higgins, M.Ed., is a school psychologist and psychoeducational consultant specializing in culturally responsive parent coaching and child development.
